2008 Syttende Mai Arts and Crafts Fair

Greetings!
Boy, it sure seems that time whips right by, doesn't it? It's time to plan for the 2008 Arts and Crafts Fair at Syttende Mai. We're looking forward to seeing all our old friends and meeting new ones. The Fair will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 17th and 18th this year, at the same place. I have once again bribed the gods of weather for pleasant skies.
Once again, entrants need to sign the application indicating that at least 50% of the value of their items is due to the artist's effort. We do not accept buy-sell entries. Also, food entries will not be considered. The registration fee will be $125, a bargain at only $5 more than last year!
Please be sure that return envelope size and postage are sufficient for the materials you send in.

We have a limited number of spaces available; you must apply no later than March 10, 2008. Applications will be sorted by return date for consideration, and acceptances and denials will be mailed by April 1st. A listing of accepted crafters will be on www.stoughtonwi.com after April 1st. Dates & Times: Saturday, May 17, 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: River Bluff School (formerly Stoughton Middle School) Campus (2 blocks north of Main Street at the intersection of North Street and Fourth Street, which is at the clock tower on Main St.). This event is held outdoors on the school grounds.
Media: Arts and Crafts that support and accentuate the spirit and intent of the Syttende Mai Folk Festival are desired. Rosemaling, woodcarving, painting, graphics, pottery, sculpture, ceramics, photography, handicrafts, jewelry, weaving, and unique arts and crafts are encouraged. All work must be original in design and execution. All work displayed must be for sale. Artists receive all proceeds from their sales.
Display: Each artist must provide his/her own props, display, and weather protection. Each artist will be responsible for setup, exhibition, and removal of display.
Application Process Spaces are limited, and early applications are encouraged. You must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, registration fee, and a photo of your work along with a completed application form and tax form. All applications must be postmarked by Monday, March 10, 2008.
Spaces and Location: There will be spaces available on grass and on asphalt. Your application should indicate your desires and flexibility for space assignment. Spaces will be assigned in advance and you will be notified of your space when we send acceptance materials. The spaces available are at least 10' by 10 1/2'. Please indicate your surface preference and canopy size on the application form. Because of high demand for spaces, large or double spaces will not be available.
Set-up: You will once again be assigned an unloading time for Saturday morning: 6:00-7:00, 7:00-8:00, or 8:00-9:00, which by exhibitor request should improve the traffic and parking on the street during set-up time. Set-up before 6:00 a.m. Saturday is at exhibitor's own risk. Artists are committed to exhibit both Saturday and Sunday. Several people have complained that Sunday is slow (when the parade starts about 1:30), but it does pick up after 3, and people who come to the parade want to shop at the Fair afterwards. Pease plan on staying open until 4:00!
SecurityProfessional: Security will be provided from 5:00 p.m. Saturday through 9:00 a.m. Sunday.
Registration Fee: The registration fee is $125.00. Please make checks payable to Syttende Mai Arts Fair.
Cancellation Policy: If your space can be filled from the waiting list, your $120.00 will be returned. Other refunds will not be made.
To summarize the application procedure, the following materials must be sent to us postmarked no later than March 10, 2008:
·Completed application form, signed in the appropriate place, and with any special requests clearly indicated
·Completed Wisconsin Sales Tax Form
·One or more clear photos of your work. Larger (up to 8X10) is better
·A stamped, self addressed envelope large enough to hold your materials and with enough postage to mail it
·A check for $125 made payable to Syttende Mai Arts Fair
