Norwegians often followed a very specific naming pattern during the 1700’s and 1800’s. Dana Kelly of the Norwegian American Genealogical Center & Naeseth Library will present examples of the unique (and sometimes confusing) naming customs of the Norwegian immigrants to the Stoughton area. She will also explain how those different traditions played out in the United States after immigrants arrived and had to adapt to the American surname system.
