Learn about historic Vossings like Nels Gilderhus (first Norwegian to claim land on the prairie) and Torger Thompson (once the largest landowner in Dane County)\, and the Vossing legacy and influence on the local Norwegian-American community. The group will travel to the home of Sjur Styrkson Reque\, early pioneer settler and site of first Liberty Church services\; St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church\, oldest Norwegian Lutheran Church continuously in use in North America\; Deerfield Lutheran Church\, built in 1890 after a predestination dispute split the Liberty congregation\; and the Berge homestead\, featuring a settler log cabin built in the 1850's Possibly a social event at Nora!
