SUMMARY:“EVERYTHING YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT NORWEGIAN CONSTITUTION DAY!!” (AN ON-LINE PRESENTATION)
DESCRIPTION:Please note: Registration is limited to 100 attendees**For security you must be an authenticated user to join the webinar. ***Please ensure you are signed into Zoom prior to starting the webinar. (You must sign into Zoom with the email you used to register for the presentation.)***\n\n\n\nMay 17 is Norway's Constitution Day and the national day of Norway and is an official public holiday observed on the 17th of May each year. Among Norwegians\, the day is simply stated as Syttende Mai (meaning "Seventeenth of May\, Nasjonaldagen ("National Day") or Grunnlovsdagen ("Constitution Day")\, although the latter is used less frequently. Do you think you know everything there is to know about Syttende Mai?\, (i.e. Norwegian Constitution Day) So did our speaker\, Ruth Paulson! But she quickly learned there's so much more to this national holiday than wearing bunads! See how Norwegians celebrated Constitution Day in the past and in recent years not even the German Occupation or the pandemic could stop people in honoring this day in some way! Learn how this tradition has journeyed to many parts of the United States today.\n\n\n\nOur Speaker Ruth Paulson is an avid lover of all things Norwegian and enjoys sharing that love with others. A retired classroom teacher and college instructor\, she can often be found volunteering for Livsreise\, the Mt. Horeb Driftless Museum\, the District 1 Schoolhouse Program\, the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum\, and Good Shepherd Food Pantry in Madison WI. This is a virtual event via Zoom.
