SUMMARY:Sons of Norway Advanced Rosemaling Class
DESCRIPTION:Sons of Norway- Mandt Lodge will host a three-day advanced Rosemaling Class on April 28-30 from 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM each day. The class will be held at Sons of Norway\, 317 South Page Street\, in Stoughton. This class is for individuals with some experience. Andrea Herkert (VGM) will be teaching this class. This class will focus on the Valdres style of Rosemaling with its foundations in floral baroque. The distinctive use or flowing C and S curves\, found in all Rosemaling\, characterizes the flowers which are a hallmark of the Valdres style. While scrolls are found in this area's painting\, they are secondary to the lush bouquets of stylized tulips\, roses\, daises\, and leaves often surrounded with elegant roping\, vases\, drapery\, and landscapes. In this class a design will be offered as a point of departure to understand the characteristics classic to Valdres Rosemaling. The interplay of color and shape will be emphasized as we paint a 12" covered bowl with and exterior marbled border. The cost is $155.00 Sons of Norway Members and Seniors (age 55 & over) and $180.00 Non- Sons of Norway Members.
