Miss Green Bay: Steadfast and True Friday, February 22, 1:00 PM Michael Telzrow, Director of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum will bring his expertise to the Stoughton Area Senior Center to discuss the story of a WWII B-17G bomber they called a “coming home plane.” The Germans saw Miss Green Bay as just another in a long line of B-17 bombers that rained destruction on their strategic productions sites and cities between 1944 and 1945, but to MSGT Elmer E. Villiesse of Green Bay, she was something special. It was Villiesse, a former industrial hockey league star and Stiller Brothers baseball team standout, who christened the aircraft after receiving permission from a pilot. Miss Green Bay flew missions nearly non-stop during the last year of the war, and always brought her crew home safely. This is the story of the aircraft and the men who maintained her and flew the perilous missions over Europe. RSVP to 873-8585 for this presentation.
