Join Sons of Norway Mandt Lodge on Wednesday, August 9, as they welcome Stoughton native Bob Sorensen as he shares his “Reflections on Stoughton”. Mandt Lodge is located at 317 South Page Street in Stoughton. There is an optional potluck at 5:30 PM and then the program at begins at 7:00 pm. Circle City Lodge (Indianapolis, IN) members are taking a road trip to Stoughton. One member will relate the area where he grew up to ties to the Mandt family. Bob will talk about his Stoughton genealogy and will describe the history of the Norwegian-Danish Methodist Episcopal Church (our lodge building). He will bring several pieces of rosemaling painted by Stoughton artists: Lysne, Kvalheim, and Nelson to display. Bob Sorensen is a native of Stoughton. His great grandfather immigrated to Stoughton in 1882. His mother was born there in 1912. His parents were married in the Church in 1936. He is a past-president of the Circle City Lodge. His career was in higher education administration. He and his wife, Linda, have taken their son (2017) and daughters’ (2012) families back to Norway to explore their roots and visit with second-cousins.
