Livsreise is pleased to have Stoughtonite Nancy Odalen speak about how her Norwegian heritage drew her to the art of rosemaling and what her recent awarding of the Vesterheim Gold Medal for her painting means to her. This journey began in 2001 when she took her first class at the Vesterheim Norwegian-American museum in Decorah IA. Since that time, she has studied with Andrea Herkert, another Vesterheim Gold medalist, and taken more courses, taught classes here in Stoughton and taken apprenticeships through the Wisconsin Art Board. In May 2022 she was also awarded the Wisconsin State Rosemaling Association's Nordic Rose classification for her artistry as well! She will have samples of her work available for viewing as well at this event.
