Sons of Norway- Mandt Lodge welcomes the public to “St. Paul’s LLC – A Vossa-land Church?” with Roxy Engelstad on Wednesday, November 13, at 7:00 PM. The lodge is located at 317 South Page Street, in Stoughton. The presentation will focus on the early history of the church, which is the oldest Norwegian Lutheran church in the U.S. that has continuously held worship services in the same sanctuary. Roxy Engelstad will share her research on the Norwegian immigrants (and many of them were Vossings) that built the church and how they constructed one of the largest limestone and mortar structures in this area during the 1850s. Major renovations to the church were completed in 1914, and now the congregation at St. Paul’s has initiated a second renovation to hopefully sustain the church for the next one hundred years. Please join us as Roxy talks about the details of the renovations, both in 1914 and the latest project that began this summer. Please contact Darlene Arneson at arnesonfamily5@gmail.com or 608-873-7209 for more information. Mandt Lodge is handicapped accessible with a lift located on the south side of the building. There is parking on the street, public parking lot behind the Stoughton Senior Center, or in the Livsreise parking lot if their building is closed. We always encourage you to bring donations for the Stoughton Food Pantry! The public is always welcome at Mandt Lodge!
