What is the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce?
The Stoughton Chamber is an association of businesses, organizations and individuals who believe that by working together to promote the commercial and economic development of Stoughton, the quality of life in our community will be enhanced.
The mission of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce is to promote the progressive development of our area economy while serving the needs of our members. In accomplishing our mission, the Chamber works in a variety of roles including economic development, planning, being an information source for residents and visitors, a business advocate, serving as liaison with city and county government and referral service.
Visitor Services - Stoughton’s tourism marketing arm - operates out of the Chamber. This department is responsible for promoting the community to potential visitors and tourists. Funding for the operation comes from a portion of the room tax collected by the city and with funding support provided by the Chamber.
Who belongs to the Chamber?
Businesses, organizations, individuals, not-for-profits and others are eligible for membership in the Chamber. With over 250 members, the Chamber represents the majority of the businesses in town. You are invited to join with these businesses and individuals who are working to make Stoughton the best it can be.
How is the Chamber Organized?
The membership controls the Chamber by electing a Board of Directors that establishes the goals and objectives of the organization. The Board employs an Executive Director, Laura Trotter. Please click here to view the by-laws of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce.
There are committees that are responsible for some specific functions. Currently the committees are: Syttende Mai, Victorian Holidays, Coffee Break, Ambassadors and Workforce Development. Joining a committee is an excellent way to learn about the Chamber and contribute to its success.
