Destination Stoughton - A Norwegian Weekend of Fun!
The Stoughton Norwegian Summit Group, an informal group of Norwegian themed businesses, groups and organizations, builds a weekend of Norse opportunities around a signature event. The group was organized in 2011 under the leadership of Sons of Norway-Mandt Lodge to bring “all those things Norwegian” together to help promote each other’s events, activities, businesses, and organizations.
Friday:
9:30am-5pm: Livsreise, Norwegian Heritage Center (277 West Main St.) will be open--closed noon to 12:30 pm for lunch.- Their current exhibit celebrates the bi-centennial of Norwegian Immigration to America. Livsreise is pleased to host an exhibition curated by the Vesterheim Norwegian- American Museum in Decorah, Iowa titled “200 Years of Norwegians in America” This exhibit focuses on Norwegian immigration and features twenty objects that tell important stories and themes for Norwegians in America. Each theme tells an important story of travel, settlement, family, and friends, old and new. A few special immigrant trunks and the stories of their original owners are also highlighted.
Saturday Events:
9am-2pm: The Wisconsin Rosemalers' annual “Nordic Market" (formally called the "Fall Bazar"). You’ll find lots of gorgeous Rosemaling, of course, but also several woodenware vendors, Norwegian treats, Sami inspired bracelets, carvings, Nisses, and more! Located at the Stoughton Senior Center Annex (248 W. Main St.)

At 2 pm: Stoughton High School Norwegian Dancers Performance- The internationally recognized Stoughton Norwegian Dancers invite the community to their first Stoughton performance of the season at the brand-new River Bluff Fieldhouse. This year’s group is made up of 25 talented Stoughton High School students who share Scandinavian heritage and traditions through lively performances across the Midwest. Audiences can look forward to a vibrant showcase of traditional Scandinavian folk dancing, impressive acrobatics, and beautifully authentic costumes. The Halloween Costume Contest is back! Before their performance come dressed in your best spooky, silly, or creative look for a chance to win prizes! Admission is FREE for this family-friendly event, keep the celebration going and walk Downtown Stoughton with the Dancers for some Trick-or-Treating until 5 p.m. (or when the candy runs out!)
